Many of us think of our televisions when it comes to the DTV transition. Many items we may never have thought of are also affected. To name a couple, cellular phones. There are currently over 100 million people using cellular phones in the US. By now I believe all of us have been switched from analog to digital cellular phone service. And then there's Onstar. The world's most comprehensive in-vehicle security, communications, and diagnostics system. OnStar By GM | OnStar.com, Car Safety Device and Vehicle Security System think of all the General Motors automobiles driving around that include the Onstar service. All Onstar subscribers with GM vehicles built before 2002 will no longer be able to use their Onstar service. Or will they? Is there a digital to analog converter available for Onstar subscribers?

I had no idea. So this only applies to 2001 and older models or does it inlcude 2002 also?

Am I reading the article right, that technically, there isn't a "Digital Transition" for cellular netowkrs? They just don't have to support analog cellular signals after Jan 1st. 2008?

February 18 2008 all carriers were moved from the analog band to digital. It upset many GM owners.
