Of course, a very small percentage of viewers even had their televisions on during the soft test. However, that's not really the issue.

The broadcasters ran the tests during the day in three time slots 7:25am, 12:30pm, and 6:25pm. I appears to me the target was for the viewers local news slot. Maybe the viewership is up during these times? I wonder what percentage watched during the tests. I couldn't find any facts for this.

Of course they can't do this because of contracts, ad revenue, etc.

But let them cut off 30 minutes to an hour of primetime, each weeknight over the course of a week or so, such they hit about every time slot and day.

That might shock some.

You know but what does it matter? There is no way get to 100% unless you extend the time frame into infinity. It follows simple math where a function approaches an asymptote but only reaches it in infinity.

I would have though at 95% of the country ready, that would be a point to switch.

Thanks for posting that. I was curious how it came out and hadn't heard anything. My sister was here on Friday and was totally clueless beyond, "Today's a cut off day or something." I had to tell her it was a national test day. I'm amazed she knew as much as she did. All in all, the numbers aren't bad.

Looks like Information Week has retracted or removed their story titled:

DTV Transition Test Inundates FCC With Calls

"It was a wake-up call for consumers who are unprepared, alerting them to the fact that they need to take the necessary steps before the June 12 DTV"

Article seemed pretty negative about the DTV soft test, but it's now no longer available?

Folks probably made fun of them for calling 50,000 out of 2.5 million an innundation.

My thoughts exactly. I went to Information Week's main page and they had that article on their featured stories, but the link doesn't work.

I am not uncompassionate, a right hand nut job, but at some point, you will not get the last ones to move until the run the ultimate PSA.

Snow on all their channels.

==============

If the US Government made sure everyone knew when they changed laws that allowed huge corporations to merge changing decades of anti-monopoly laws. Allowing Credit Default Swaps. How come they didn't delay that stuff until 97% of the country figured out it wasn't a good idea?

Or how about pushing so Fanny and Freddie to buy any loan from a bank so more people even though that could not afford them could get a mortgage?
Who explained to those people that when their mortgage ballooned they would loose their house and the economy would collapse?

This delay should give perspective into the twisted and selfish minds of the US Govt, regardless, rather totally regardless of which party is in power.
