Default Best Buy's Geek Squad to the DTV Rescue

Best Buy's Geek Squad has been contracted by the Federal Communications Commission to provide free in-home installation of up to two digital-to-analog converterboxes.


Geek Squad's Home Theatre installation department will provide a complete installation including connecting with an existing VCR, channel scanning, adjusting of antenna, and training on how the converter box works.

Geek Squad can be contacted for converter box installation help up until June 30th, 2009.

This is potentially a good move. The economy probably has them sitting around a lot, and getting their foot in the door (literally) could help sell future services.

They'll prolly have to wait till Dec. 30th to get their fee from the FCC!!!!!

Agreed, something that actually benefits both the consumer and business. Plus, just how many of the people that are going to use this program could of actually diagnosed a reception problem. I like the idea too that Best Buy (a corporation) signed on to do this because their employees aren't motivated by what they sell. If someone doesn't have a problem with reception, there won't be a "need" to up-sell them a better antenna if you know what I mean.

Now that's a good deal and a smart move. I'm impressed, and it's good to know I have someone to call if I have problems with the converter boxes.
