Default Toledo, OH: WTVG Channel 13 ABC Reception Problems

Channel 13 ABC is currently working on boosting digital television signals for viewers in the Toledo, OH area. Channel 13 recommends that viewers of their station and WTOL channel 11 CBS purchase a UHF/VHF antenna because both stations are now operating on the hi-band VHF frequencies.

Channel 13 ABC station engineer, Tom Young had this to say about boosting signals for viewers,
Quote:
We're converting our old analog transmitter to be a digital transmitter so we can put out more power. Right now were running a few kilowatts short of what our authorization is.

Looks like WTVG and WTOL has done nothing to up their signals yet.

Quote:
A spokesman at the FCC office in Washington said Tuesday that neither station has requested an increase in the signal power they are currently broadcasting. He said WTOL-11 is broadcasting at its permitted power of 16.9 kilowatts. WTVG-13 was given a permit to boost its 11.2 kw signal but has not yet turned it up to its new 14.6 kw limit.

“We’re looking into whatever solution we can come up with,” said WTOL engineer Steve Crum. The station has not yet requested a permit to boost power because research is continuing into problems that stations across the country have run into broadcasting digital signals on VHF bands.
