Parents TV Council fired up about Comedy Central, Joan Rivers Roast

Parents Television Council issued the following alert to its members today,

Quote:

The Parents Television Council™ is warning its members about the explicit nature of Comedy Central’s “Roast of Joan Rivers,” which will air on Sunday, August 9. Even a one-minute video preview on the Comedy Central web site contains a warning: “Explicit Language, Viewer Discretion is Advised.”

The alert also contained a call to action for "cable choice" as quoted by PTC President Tim Winter,

This type of show is one of the main reasons why consumers want the ability to choose and pay for only the cable networks they want through some form of Cable Choice

Broadcasting & Cable noted a response to the PTC alert from Comedy Central spokeswoman Aileen Budow,

The Roast is designed to appeal to the Comedy Central audience, not the PTC audience and is scheduled accordingly,

Should cable and/or satellite providers give consumers the option to choose and pay for the channels they want to watch?

Yes I think they should, out of all the channels we have there are many that we never ever watch for any reason at all. If we got to choose the channels , like some deal that was like 50 for X $$$ we would probably be able to afford some of the premium services we cannot afford right now.

Boy wouldn't that force some of these networks to become competitve.

It's a roast, what are you expecting? "Yes, Joan River's is a lovely young woman.", no way, we wanna hear "Joan Rivers, 100% natural." and show a picture of Sakhan Dosova.
