Can't get a signal with new DTV converter box

I bought a converter box and I can't get any channels. It says no signal. I can pick up local channels without the box crystal clear. I know some the the stations in my area are already broadcasting in digital. So what's wrong? I've turned the antenna, reset the box, and checked the make sure it was hooked up right. I have a great outside antenna ,so I went online and found out what type of antenna I'm supposed to use and I'm using the right kind of antenna. Can anyone tell me how to fix my problem and what's wrong. I don't understand how I can pick up channels without the box perfectly and not any channels with the box. I know that digital works different and that you ether get it or you don't. There's not any in between with static. Please help me!!!!

I have scanned for the channels, yes the TV's on the right channel, and I did see where the antenna is supposed to be pointed but It still doesn't work. We actually have 2 boxes and nether one of them work.

Sounds like you either live in an area that is outside the digital signals range, or something is causing interference with the signal in your area. If you have tired everything you know how to do and still can't get a signal perhaps its time to call a professional out to see if he can get a signal for you.

You may want to think about amplification by adding an amplifier to your setup. You can probably find one at your local Radio Shack or Fry's Electronics (make sure you choose a store with a good return policy in case it doesn't work). You'll want to check and make sure that the amplifer has surge and lightning protection features with it.

To avoid amplification of noise or interference, you'll want to locate the amplifer as close to the antenna as possible. I know that's not always possible or practical, but it can make the difference of receiving a clear picture or pixelation on some channels.

It sounds like both TVs utilize the same antenna?

Another option may be to purchase a smaller powered (amplified) antenna from a store (with a good return policy!). I've seen some people have success by switching from an outdoor antenna to an indoor powered antenna.

I see your second post where you've described doing a channel scan after hooking up the antenna, so it looks like you've got everything (TV and converter box) connected correctly.

If I can add to what was said above, you may want to contact your local television station by email or telephone. I've seen the local stations here send technicians out to help people receive broadcasts. A question to ask them, is if they are currently broadcasting dtv signals at peak range, or are they going to broadcast at an higher range after the digital transition in Feb. 2009.

Check all the coax this is one of the most common causes of no signal have had this happen several times. You also must have coax running from the antenna all the way to the box the flat ribbon cable will not work for digital. just some suggestions.
