Hi!

I’m a student, living in Germany, Berlin. Currently I’m writing my thesis, but I could need a little help...

For my thesis I created an online test for auditory perception. It includes sound examples from different movies (American original version and the German dubbing version). The German and American "test persons" have to listen to the sound examples and they have to appraise the effect of the speech.

Unfortunately I don’t know many Native American English speakers, but I still need some as "test persons". Hopefully I can find someone here, who would do the test...

The test is on this website: Erhebung der Sprechwirkung verschiedener Sprecher

Please take a little time to do the test. It’s a really interesting test, not boring! And you would help me so much!
Thanks a lot!

Anyway, on to the story,
LOS ANGELES — On many nights this fall, it has been possible to tune in to broadcast network television during prime time and hear a character call someone else a “douche.”

In just the last several weeks, it has happened on CBS’s “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and the CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” which are broadcast at 8 p.m., during what used to be known as the family hour. It has been heard this fall on Fox’s new series “The Cleveland Show,” which begins at 8:30, and on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” On NBC, its use has spanned the old and the new, blurted out on the freshman comedy “Community” and the seasoned drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
I'm sorry, but a stupid football game already simulcasts on the other channels and of course if sports are what people want, please....that's what channels such as ESPN are for. i hate retro shows being removed for stupid junk!

I've had just about enough of RTV pulling stunts like this. i'm seriously thinking of deleting it.

Before cable tv had saturated most of the country there were a handful of ota pay tv services such as On-TV. At about $20 a month the service was rather expensive since it only offered a single channel and (iirc) only aired later in the evening. During the daytime the station would air it's regular free programming but during the evening On-TV would take over and the picture would scramble.

In the town where I lived cable tv was not yet available so some of the neighbors had the On-TV service. You could always tell who had it because there would be a single channel uhf yagi antenna installed on a pole outside their house.

From the Wikipedia article...

ON-TV was one of many "scrambled UHF" services in many major markets around the country in the era before multi-channel cable television became widely available. Others included SelecTV, Prism, Starcase, Spectrum, Preview, VEU, and SuperTV.

ON-TV, like other pay-TV networks, aired a mixture of movies, sports events, and concerts.

Ok. I'm going on the offensive here against the show Cake Boss. I've seen probably 7-8 episodes now and I must say, the whole show seems rehearsed. There are way too many things that "happen" while the cameras are rolling like dropping a cake down the stairs or the stupid pranks that the bunch pull against each other. A lot of the lines seem rehearsed too. They take every Italian cliche and stereotype and take it to the nth degree.

I think the show that clued me into believing the rehearsed scheme was the stripper cake show that Buddy and the crew had to make with out the mom seeing it. But she happens to come in at the perfect time after the cake is finished and in the refrigerator and says the infamous line, "No way, No how!"

I just tuned into RTV for my weekly fix of Airwolf, a knigh-rider-esque show starring a helicopter in a similar stint as K.I.T.T., only no voice. a cool series i must say, with the normal characters such as Dominic Santini, Hawke, and of course that creepy white-robed Archangel.

Today's sucked completely. the theme was all wrong, and all those characters are gone. there's some teen and another guy, all the effects are cheesy, and the entire story sounds like a rip-off of Dragnet 1968, complete with the USSR involved. guys die for no reason.

OK was there a second series in the late 1980s or early 90s that was attempting to re-imagine Airwolf? because what i'm watching is NOT the Airwolf i remember nor do i have any interest in it.

What is going on at RTV and why are they losing their 'retro' shows? what's next? reruns of the crappy remade Battlestar?
