It's economics. Leno isn't a runaway hit, but it's doing well enough that it's the cheapest thing they could air. If the market changes, this could change. Reality shows aren't going anywhere because they are dirt cheap. That's why Southland got the kickoff. The variety show might make a comeback yet.
