Well, I just wasted two hours being pretty much bored by the debut of SGU. I didn't like the sex scene at all. It shouldn't have been there. The actors bored me. I did come to like Scott a little, and I thought one of the best scenes was Chloe when she watched her father die. However, I don't care to watch this show again. I will, though - episode 14 I believe and then episode 18. That's because Michael Shanks will be on again.

Shanks had a 'blink and you missed me' appearance on this show. Richard Dean Anderson had a couple of scenes. The first one was cute and very much a Jack O'Neill moment. The whole thing was just like The Last Starfighter, though.

Anywho -- I came, I watched, I yawned.

My middle kid got out of prison today, then flying home to PA first thing in the morning. I was so taken by seeing him for the first time in 5 years, I forgot to watch. Sounds like I didn't miss much.

That about wraps it up for me a cable this fall. That was the only new show on cable/satellite I was looking forward and even planned to watch.

Lets hope it gets better, but Stargate never needed sex scenes. It was the Jack wanted Sam and Sam wanted Jack but could not get it together that gave the needed sexual tension to the original series with ever actually anything happening.

When will writers and producers learn that the almost, maybe, shy, omg but we want to but don't sexual tension is much more a thriller than it happening? If I want sex, I watch Porno, not SciFi.

Well I feel vindicated, a bit, for my downgrade to Digital Economy. (It doesn't include Syfy.) In reading the description of Stargate Universe, I wasn't quite sure that we needed to watch it, at least not immediately. We'll wait for the DVD, at least, and wait to hear reviews from folks who more often like the same type of programs we like.

A correction, though: The series premiere of Stargate SG-1 did include a nude scene.

Also, note that there is another cable series premiering this fall: White Collar premieres on USA (which is included with Digital Economy), on October 23.

It was a nude scene but not a sex scene. If you haven't heard, Brad Wright just re-did the pilot for SG-1 and removed that nudity completely. He and Jonathan Glassner never wanted it there. It was mandated by Showtime entirely.

SGU was a definite, crude sex scene that was there just to be there. I've read a lot of comments today and people are pretty upset over it. It did nothing to further the story; it was just there. PLus, some people were watching with their children and caught totally off-guard. They aren't happy.

SGU is already desperate. They are talking about getting Richard Dean Anderson to be in even more episodes than he is already in.

So no real difference.

Yes, there is a difference. In SG-1, the producers didn't want the nudity, and it was just nudity. There was no sex involved. In SGU, the producers now wanted this scene and it was a graphic sex scene. Big difference.

Sorry, but no. That's not a real difference. A real difference would be if the scene wasn't there, in SG-1.

Also, please provide proof that the producers of SGU wanted the scene. That should keep you busy for a little while.

Stargate started out as a movie in 1994. isn't it time to let it go already? after so many sequels it starts to get boring real quick. at least that was after i got bored from watching only a few seasons of SG-1, then it died for me.

Superman made his first appearance in 1938. I enjoyed last week's episode of Smallville.

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers debuted in the early 1990s. they have about 10 sequels. after awhile it gets old. too much. Superman can/may be the exception but after about 10+ sequels some shows get old really quick. Survivor is very old too. it's like some shows get to feel like endless reruns or repeats even though they're new incarnations. Stargate SG-1 is just done and having a new series is kinda making it repetitive too. probably would've been more interesting had they left the film's characters intact but it is like what killed off SeaQuest. too many cast changes.

I never got into Smallville. reminded me of the Fringe. it wasn't like when i watched the old Justice League (or the new one). a tad too dark.
