Two commercials which make zero sense
1. the one used in WEHT-DT and RTV 25, shows 'Your Kidneys.....filter xxxxx gallons of liquid....every day of your life.....it's time to show them.....a little love....*cheering* and that's it. no organization, no message. what. the. frak?! it does show 'In service with your community' from WEHT however. but no idea why.
2. The creepy Amnesty International one with the animated ink characters and equally-if-not-more-creepy Japanese Muzak that begs for the panic-Mute. the characters are military or prisoners (the first one looks like a mad scientist the others soldiers) and grab their signature which then transmogrifies to balloons and each and every one floats to the heavens. the end shows 'Your Signature is more important than you think' and again, whisky tango foxtrot?
The latter is just plain creepy. i tried multiple times with google on both ads, especially the second one, to no avail. i don't plug in web addresses without a real reason, and since the latter shows a URL but no message after, i am not inviting spam or viruses.

This thread is no good without vids!!! jk
Public service announcements that try to get artsy with their message make me flip the channel.

Problem is they're local only. i can't find them, especially the kidney one, on youtube even.
JakesDTVblog may know seeing as he's familiar with the Evansville, IN TV market
A mute feature which also blanks the screen would be a wonderful advancement, as most ads today are just as sickening to look at as they are to hear.
I wonder what kinda electronics work would be required for a mute which also blanks out the CRT Raster? shouldn't be too hard....

I've not seen the kidney one, but the Amnesty International ad has been running for months. AI does some pretty good things as far as dealing with those who are oppressed or wrongly imprisoned by foreign governments (AFAIK), but aside from that, I know little about them.
As much TV as I watch, I've more or less tuned out most commercials. Heck, as I'm typing this, I knew there was an infomercial on, but I actually had to look up and see that it was the Edenpure one with Bob Vila. See? I tune 'em out.

The Amnesty International may be a worthy cause, but that PSA comes off as just down-right creepy. the message at the end is uninformative and equally as creepy as the animations in the ad (not even counting the muzak) it seems to make signing one's name vulerable to something and again, that's just plain creepy.
If you were watching 25-1 or 25-2 between the hours of 5PM and 8PM, the Kidney one comes on like clockwork, only once but around the same time. there's no real message or organization so it's just silly. the way it shows 'In Service with Your Community' implies that WEHT-DT is using it as a PSA similar to how NBC shows 'The More You Know' in their segments. so it's apparently important to them. no way a google search will reveal it though.
