Most popular season?

I usually tend not to pay all that much attention to ratings for television shows and their various ups and downs, but I was just curious on which season of Survivor was the most watched with the best ratings. Does anyone know?

Probably the first season, but I'm not sure. I don't pay attention to the ratings. I only know that my favorite seasons are the original and the Australian Outback.

The first season of Survivor was the only one that I tried to follow fairly closely, but my interest level has decreased more and more with each of the following seasons. You would have to think that the original season would have to be hugely popular when you consider all the various other reality shows that started sprouting up shortly after Survivor's debut.
