"Wipeout" obstacles = brutal

Just finished watching Wipeout this evening and I have to say the obstacle course is downright evil. Anybody seen this show yet? It's absoultely insane.

I watched it with my 8 yo son. We were laughing the whole show. I'm sure they need to sign a legal release to participate. I was wondering what the release includes. Some of the contestants got creamed.

One thing to keep in mind is that these episodes are shown out of order. This past episode was actually both the second episode filmed for the season and the second episode aired, but that's a coincidence. The first episode aired was the tenth episode filmed, and actually the special episode aired in February was the sixth episode filmed for this season.

Based on what we've seen in episode 206, 210 and 202 (in that order) I suspect that they realized early on in filming Season 2 that they made things too rough, and toned things down a bit.

Next week's episodes (there are two) are 214 and 205, and then the week after is 216. You can monitor how they're ordering them here:

That makes perfect sense because the obstacles this season seem much tougher. I've seen more quitters this season too now that I think about it.

One thing interesting about this past episode; not only was it the first all-female Wipeout Zone, but it is actually the first time that a woman has won, other than the deliberately mis-matched Cheerleaders vs. Couch Potatoes episode.

True.

Now that I think of it, there were 2 quitters that episode with one of the girls getting hurt in the Wipeout Zone. Was a little dissapointed with the beginning of the Wipeout Zone with the water slide as opposed to the catapult, so hopefully they've gone back to what was shown in the first season with that.

I wonder if one of the reasons that they mix the episode up is because for the big obstacles, like the Wipeout Zone, they build an obstacle once, and use it a few times, so instead of seeing basically the same obstacle several episodes in a row, by mixing up the episodes, it looks more like that they're actually mixing up the obstacles.
