Whats with eating all the weird foods?

Can't quite figure out why people are so fascinated with other people that eat really weird foods. At first it was interesting to see different cuisine but now it just seems to be about who can eat the grossest stuff Why? I Don't get it?

Heh, I bought a bunch of strange candy for a past year's convention. Can't believe this Hose Nose stuff is still in the warehouse suppliers I get party snacks from: Candy Addict Top 10 Grossest Candies - 10 to 8 - Maggots, Snot, and Toilets

All washed down with Pocari Sweat...

However, you won't see me eating Casu Marzu or balut.

There's nothing wrong with pocari sweat, the Japanese just weren't very good at naming it. Now, balut, that's a story I'd rather not share. xD
