Default Creepy FOX PSA

During the ending of one of those reality shows (I think Hell's Kitchen, whatever ends before Scrubs comes on) when it goes to a commercial, i saw this really creepy PSA that has this creepy guy and his shirt morphs into what looks like the logo for 'medicine' (snakes wrapped around the cross) animates the snakes on it and goes to a black screen with only an URL saying 'snakesonacane.com'.

Either this is some sort of parody on the joke that was the movie, 'Snakes On A Plane' (a little late IMO) or it's a really creepy way for Obama to get his National Healthcare message out. either way it's creepy and i have seen ads with no explanation and only URLs and believe me i don't visit URLs because they're on TV without first explaining. lord knows what kind of Trojan i'd pick up.

The other creepy one had this half pig man at the end and says 'feedthepig.gov' yet another unexplained way to say 'go to this site!' and again, i don't without explaining why. that appeared to imply i should 'feed the government' and that sounds like a bad idea.

I thought the 1970s had some creepy PSAs but these two take the cake. oh and don't get me started on the creepy one with the cell phone costume guy for 'Thatsnotcool.com' and the 'TheTruth' anti smoking commercials. now that last one is really out on a limb. i feel like i want to light up after that feldercarb. and i don't smoke!

Have you been to the website yet at feedthepig.gov? Feed the Pig Such a strange advertising campaign. I guess it's good because it got our attention and we're talking about it.

On their about page,

Quote:
All this great stuff is part of a national campaign sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and The Advertising Council. The goal of the campaign is to encourage and help Americans aged 25 to 34 to take control of their personal finances.

No i didn't visit the site. i don't just type in mysterious URLs especially in a creepy ad without first finding more info first. the last thing i need is more computer trouble.

For an attempt at saving money it sure came off a tad eerie. i always economize but i don't think i would if an ad has to scare people into it without even explaining it.

TheTruth.com is the worst. it's worse than all of them combined. I'm a non-smoker and even i'm insulted. good lord!

Then there are the new Geico ads. i used to hate the Gecko as he was played to death but when they brought out the wad of money with the eyeballs and their also creepy campaign i just switched channels. i miss the Geico Direct ads. the ones that were actually funny.

Though talking about a company through its ads gets the message out, not all the time is a negative image of a company a good thing. it gets the message out all right, the message to 'avoid them at all costs!'

I don't understand all the scare mongering today. we hear so much about the Bird Flu, Swine Flu, and now we have tons of creepy PSAs.
