How about adding some news websites with streaming video? CNN, MSNBC, etc.

This website helps in your search, let's try to keep it there, unless you really REALLY need the keyword attention: Find Internet TV - Search. Find. Watch.

I have my Windows media player set to Onlineracing's Jai Alai or dog races at OnlineRacing.tv , I have it set up as my screensaver with Microsoft Video Screensaver.

Yeah, getting the exact direct access URL for the media player is a bit of a challenge, but I use a "network snooper" like URLSnooper. Dropping that direct access URL in the media player usually is a lot better than watching it in a tiny window. However, some sites require a cookie that is issued by advertising, and the "direct access" method sometimes fails.

Of course, if you have an old operating system, not all of these work. A lot of them require a minimum of XP and sometimes 2000 as the lowest.

I think it would be very tough to keep a list like this up-to-date. There are so many sites that let you watch online video and TV, and it seems like every major TV station offers online versions of their content, now.

OS is unimportant - it's the player required.

I've been able to get a lot of stations with Windows 98 and Media Player Classic, from this install package: About the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack . Some sites do require some form of authorization, and for some Win2K would work, others require WinXP's browser-in-mediaplayer architecture. That way I don't have to lean too much on a particular media player. I prefer players that have very little interface - complete transparency is best, it shouldn't add a border or other nonsense to the picture.
