Default Robby the Robot on DVD

Thought I'd start another picture thread of a famous character on dvds.

This time it's Robby the Robot who debuted in 1956 in the big screen film "Forbidden Planet" (or was it the Perry Como show?).

    Forbidden Planet 1956

    Forbidden Planet also featured...
    Leslie Nielsen

    ...just sayin'

Lost in Space 1966 War of the Robots

Lost in Space 1967 Condemned in Space

The Ark II 1976 The Robot

Space Academy 1977 My Favorite Marcia

Avatar is from the 1967 Saturday morning Spider-man cartoon series

Obviously Robby got a head job for his appearance in the Space Academy episode.

Same thing happened to the robot from the Lost in Space series when he co stared in some obscure Saturday mornings tv series in the 1970's.

    Robots have all the luck.

I just ordered another dvd from Netflix that features Robby the Robot in his last screen appearance from way back in 2005 and God willing and the creek don't rise I'll post pics from it in a few days.

Don't forget The Invisible Boy, Robby's feature film after The Forbidden Planet!

    Build your own B9 Robot!

The full-scale Robot in the photo is a duplicate. I can't think of better 'yard-art'.

Pricey parts ain't they. The Lost in Space robot also can be purchased pre-assembled from this web site The ROBOT from "Lost in Space" and it's only $24,500. Wow! Pretty cool video of the robot in action (or is it inaction) on the website too.

Well I have the dvd from Netflix with Robby the Robots final screen appearance. It's from a sitcom called Stacked which aired in 2005. Robby's scene is about five seconds long if that and the title of the episode is "Gavin's Pipe Dream."

Orrymain, I know of the Invisible Boy movie but never seen it. Sounds like it's vaguely tied into Forbidden Planet since Robby has the same name and it's mentioned that he came from the future. Unfortunately Netflix doesn't have it but a library not too far away does so maybe I can post pics from it sometime too.

Yep! Great yard-art and honestly, the cost isn't that high considering the current value of the US dollar. What's the cost of a 'car' from Korea these days? If you do the labor to build one yourself, you won't save very much because of the cost of freight (fuel) to get the all the parts to you. I need to scan something else to post here later.

    Jim

    Its Audio features include:

    - Internal 240 watt stereo sound system. (ROCK ON!)

    - Torso knob functions as Robot volume control.
    - Over 500 voice tracks by Richard Tufeld, the voice of the original Robot. These are stored on an internal Compact Flash memory card to allow easy updates and customization.
    - An external stereo input jack allows the user to override the built in voice library and use the Robot as a normal stereo system, juke box, etc.

It's included on The Forbidden Planet DVD release. It also has Robby's appearance on a TV Show called The Thin Man with Peter Lawford. The TV eppy wasn't bad, but Inv Boy was pretty awful.

Wish I could still edit my post. I could clean this mess up.

Sorry about all the dead picture caps.
