WSFA dumping RTV for mobile
WSFA in Montgomery, Alabama will be removing the RTV network from their subchannel 12.3 and use the frequency for mobile tv.
I'd imagine RTV has far more viewers than WSFA's weather channel so it seems like an odd choice to dump.

Good for MDTV, bad for RTV and subchannels. Wonder if we're going to see a new trend develop of dropping other subchannels too.

I think it's a convenient excuse. RTV has a plethora of technical problems such that at least one station went back to showing infomercials (!) because they claimed all of RTV's technical problems was making them look bad. (!!)

Montgomery TV & Radio
Do those weather subchannels even show commercials??
Seriously, what's going on with RTV lately. Haven't they lost a couple of subchannels around the country now?

WJXX shows commercials on their weather sub. They have a persistent nowcast and forecast on the left and bottom. The majority of the screen is where they put their weather talent every 15 minutes. In between they show radar, satellite images, temp gradients. But they also mix in IE programming to fulfill requirements. And yes I have see commercials and even infomercials playing in that area.

Trend, hmm, not sure I want to commit to that prediction. But, I thought the same thing before reading Trip's post about RTV having problems.
However I might predict at the coming electronics shows there will be more ATSC-M/H devices. This seems almost trivial I guess, but what I mean is there will be a push to make it fly now with end user equipment. Whether that does make M/H take off will be seen. But at least a few companies will bet development funds on products for it what I found the other day means anything. Tio by Winegard .... Mobile Digital TV (ATSCH-MH)

I read somewhere that one station replaced RTV with ThisTV.
Othe than that Trips site shows RTV being on 100 different channels now so they're still growing.
