Watch MKV on Galaxy S3

Hi,****I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy s3 phone, and wanna move some .mkv movies to it so I can watch them on the way to work. I tried several times, it failed to play on my phone. What can I do now?

What did you use to transcode the movies?

must read in the owner manual if is certified DIVX HD if there appear that supports that then should be able only to play videos with audio in stereo, not dolby 5.1 or DTS audio codecs since is a mobile phone can not downmix the 5.1 channels into 2 ones

You can either install another media player which is able to play .mkv files, or convert them to supported format like .mp4 or .wmv. I use Pavtube Video Converter and convert to .mp4 format so I can play them either on my android phone or my iPad.

i use the freemake video converter at least works for me good
