Health Bill Passes
Now what's going to happen! I have to say, from what I've read, I'm not too happy about it. I've tried to push aside my political opinion and look at the bill as best I could without any prejudice, but I just can't see adjusting our healthcare system especially during these tough economic times.
Passage of the legislation was all but assured after Mr. Obama and Democratic House leaders resolved a long-standing dispute over abortion Sunday, securing crucial support from a handful of lawmakers.
The White House announced that Mr. Obama would issue an executive order after passage of the health-care bill that reaffirms current law barring taxpayer dollars for abortion, except in cases of rape, incest and a threat to the life of the mother.
Moments after the White House statement, Rep. Bart Stupak, a leading abortion foe, and six other anti-abortion Democrats announced they would back the health bill.

It did pass, and pardon my French, but what the HELL does funding College tuitions (MY tax dollars) have to do with healthcare in any way? (Oh yeah-that was an earmark). Obama promised NO more earmarks in Bills. Liar.
37 States in the Union either have already passed laws or are in the process of passing laws to BLOCK this "legislation" and IF Obama signs it, there will be dozens if not hundreds of legal challanges that will potentially last many years. More tax $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ wasted.
I have always thought of myself as a Kennedy Democrat as in: "Ask not what your Country can do for you - Ask what you can do for your Country". Where did those Democrats go??? As Ronald Reagan said, "The Democratic Party left me - I didn't leave them".
I have never taken one dime of Public Assistance nor Unemployment money and since Obama took office my Healthcare Insurance has jumped almost 25% - so far. Now, I can look forward to my healthcare insurance jumping from currently over $800/month to over $1,000 per month within two months. Thanks a lot, Democrat Congress and Obama.
The November election cycle will be absolutely wonderful to watch, when the people of this REPUBLIC (we are not a Democracy) remove 50-60 or more of "our representatives" and make them join so many other Americans looking for a new job. (Except no matter what, they will ALWAYS have "Cadillac-Healthcare" forever, no matter what happens in the future...).

Millions of lawsuits and legal challenges, extreme volatility in the health care industry, massive negative economic consequences, massive increase in government bureacracy, and massive increase in Federal debt, bringing Entitlement doomsday a couple of decades closer.

I'm not happy about it because I don't like it being mandatory. How are people who can barely pay their bills going to afford health care? I'm hoping it's taken to the supreme court or something. How can they force this on us?

The uncertainty that this causes will stiffle any economic recovery.
But I heard right from the chiefs mouth, he is focused like a laser on jobs.
Next up, Amnesty and Cap & Trade.

It's not like he didnt tell the American people what he was about, they voted for him and the Democrats, in 2008.

Let me say that I am pro reform in this area. This bill however is a catastrophe.

I just can't wait to see how this all affects all of the jobs in the US market place. Some stats for anyone that's looking for more information.

I thoroughly disagree with all here, but I suck at debating anything at all, so I'm going to stay out of it.
That said, I thought there's a link at the top of this forum giving a specific place to put all political discussions?

So you dont agree with any of the above comments, heh?

I absolutely believe there will be legal challenges (aren't there always?) but the rest of it, yes, total disagreement.
As I said, not getting myself involved.

Reform needed. But This?
Okay. Reform IS needed. Say what you will aboot the Canadian system, But I don't know PERSONALLY any Canadians willing to give up their healthcare. And I know a bunch a Knucks... I lived on the NY/ Can. border most of my life. At least there (nearly) EVERYONE pays their fair share.
All I know about this plan is *I* will pay for all the lazy, "disabled" (ie, the drug addicts who are too sick by their own hands too work) to get FREE health care. I pay a huge amount to insure my family, have a large deductible, AND a 20% "co-insurance" out of pocket once the deductible is met. There are no co-pays, deductibles and insurance costs for losers.
Here's how it breaks down for me this year:
yearly insurance (me) $5000
Employers share $5000 (IF they are telling the truth, since the ins co refuses to give the total price!)
Deductible: $900 ($300 per)
My Wife is pregnant. Now, the hospital figures the bill will run $10000 IF all goes well. (HUH? how in Gods name a simple human bodily function can cost so much boggles the mind. I believe my dad paid about $50 when I was born in 1959!) We should be responsible for about $2000 of that.
we'll have paid over $15000 this year into insurance co pays and deductibles. And right now, I am spending my vacation getting 2 root canals and 4 extractions this afternoon (!!OUCH!!) in a foreign country because my insurance company deems it "cosmetic" to fix my teeth to correct sleep apnea. Oh, well. It costs less here and my dentists are really pretty
There's a real need for reform here but nasty pug-ugly and john boner refuse to get along. refuse to do the right thing. The countries problem is not Democrats. Not Republicans. It's a corrupt system whereby 2 parties have given themselves all power to the exclusion of others.
How can we fix this?
1. death to the 2 party system. This was never meant to be a 2 party system. I really laid into a college professor about this "ours is a 2 party system" crap. Nope. Not in the constitution. He lost that argument.
2. TERM LIMITS! 2 terms. period. that's all you get. The government was designed to work that way. Yea, its not in the constitution, but that's what the framers had in mind. You leave the farm, go to Washington, do your public service, go home. Nobody should serve so long they hold THAT much power. Remember Strom Thurmond?

Damn, that dude was dead. I'm sure of it, they just propped him up when it was time to vote. But he kept getting elected because of the power he held for his constituents.
3..,. theres gotta be more but my blood is boiling, and I need to relax before my extractions.
For the record, I consider myself to be a "Radical Liberal Conservative".
Fiscally conservative (responsible).
liberal, as in "New and creative" solutions
and Radical, because though I love my country,
I despise my government. Its just outta control.
Time to clean house.
