I was busy working all day, and my dogs are scared to death of fireworks, so I missed out on them. I could tell my Jack Russel didn't like them, because that is the first time he has ever dragged himself to the house by his own will.

sat sad in the rainwe had our fireworks here on the 3rd so i had my fun on Friday. but yesterday it sucked.
and of course RTV had Monster Hop once again take the place of my Black Sheep fix.i hope it is only temporary or i'll be writing to them PDQ. now if it took out BattleStar Galactica it'd be personal.
Yeah, I hate it when they rearrange things for special occasions, especially if it's things nobody cares about. Like crappy Christmas specials we've seen a trillion times or like what Cartoon Network in the UK was guilty of several times, a Tom and Jerry marathon at new years. Don't get me wrong, I like Tom and Jerry, but what do they have to do with new years?
For a few years past, there was a street fireworks thing for the kids. Looks like they outgrew that, it was dead silent last night.
Fireworks booths I visited were full of fireworks, the current economic state didn't let anyone do much celebrating. They weren't out on anything except what was left out of shipments to the booths (same items were crossed off the list across town.) Some vendors even were willing to take a cut on their commission on some of the larger sets.
I wound up with a bumper crop of Morning Glory sparklers that I'll use to ceremoniously light the BBQ at the parties.
Ended up watching the free DVD I got from this fireworks wholesaler- they make and sell many kinds of fireworks, some items listed aren't even't allowed in California. (aerials, movers like boats and tanks, perchlorate-heavy items) They'll help you on how to check the local city code info. Most novelties are okay, but you still have to check. (Cities like Los Angeles disallow party poppers because the mess and hassle of cleaning up streamers/confetti, even stains when the streamers get wet.) Fill out a short form, and you'll get a DVD every year each March. Spirit of '76 Wholesale Fireworks - Buy Wholesale Fireworks. Order Fireworks Online.

I love Computers, but I could never eat a Whole one.
Glad I still live in the woods. There was all kinds of stuff set off for hours on end in our neighborhood. The sky was lite from end to end. Odd too because the last few years there have not been many fireworks. Then the worst economy and people went nuts. One guy down the street had real commercial mortar tubes and 4 inch shells. No telling where he got them, no one around here asks. The cops find a good place to park and watch, because most of the stuff is not legal in Florida but they don't bother anyone.
The more I understand, the less I know.

We were busy rearranging the house. We worked most of the day. At night, I watched the Boston Pops on TV. My current dogs really don't mind the fireworks very much. I've had frightened dogs in the past, but these two are curious about them, but they aren't petrified or shaking or anything. I kept them inside more for my peace of mind than theirs.
My daughter in law's mother's dog was with us lighting our rockets and mortars. She kept running over to where they were lighting them, and the flashes nor the sound bothered her, instead made her curious.
The more I understand, the less I know.

The funniest thing that ever happened at a 4th fireworks show was a few years ago.
Here where we live some of the neighbors across the closest lake light some big commercial stuff. So we walk down the block to our side of the lake to watch as do the other people in our neighborhood.
One time I was there waiting for them to start. I had some fire crackers with me. I light some just as a couple with a baby walked up. The guy asked me to stop as it would wake the baby. I asked him I know you can't leave a baby at home but what is going to happen when the big stuff starts? He again asked me to stop. I said well the street here is pretty long and I was standing here but if you want to be so silly I will move down the street. Which I did and me and my kids kept lighting fire crackers waiting for the show to start. Talk about logic.......
The more I understand, the less I know.

@Aries:
The replacement of The Black Sheep Squadron for Midnight Monster Hop i am sad to say appears to be permenant. it's already updated in my TVGOS. sadly enough, RTN's site still lists Black Sheep as part of its programming on Saturday; there is no weekday or Sunday showings. all the other programs are in their same time slots and all other Sat night programming (Airwolf, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica) are intact. but if they play stuff which belongs on Halloween in place of a true story of Col Boyingfield's story of WWII ragtags i'm writing them personally.
At least put something worth watching on. Monster Hop looks fan-made and youtube-like. it's so cheesy it's not even worth the commentary from the robots on Mystery Science Theatre. at the least make it come on at 11PMCDT (Midnight Eastern) instead of 10PM CDT (11PM Eastern). it also doesn't qualify as 'retro' programming. i Wiki'd Monster Hop and it was made in 2006. hardly 'retro television'
When it first happened i don't know if it was the way it was made but it would blank the channel out, snow would appear, some sort of whizzing lines ala Outer Limits, then the intro 'Castle Blood Presents...Midnight Monster Hop!' and i thought 'this either means RTV just got replaced by a horror-themed sub-channel now (Since it happened on June 13th--funny, the number 13, plus one day after the Transition) or there was some sort of temporary cross-talk between a horror-themed sub-channel and RTV.
It still does the snow, lines, and whatnot and does so during the end credits of BSG. you hear 'Freed from Cylon tyranny, the last battlestar, Galactic---SSSSSSSSSSSSHHHH!!' well ya know..
it stays on from 10PM here to about 4AM. then goes to info ads. i don't know for sure if it's every day or just on Saturday. i never really care myself, i just hate that it replaced one hour of my Sat couch potatoing.
