Default How to broadcast your own tv station

First let me say this is probably illegal and if you broadcast copy-written materiel, you can bet the farm it's illegal.

That being said, you will need three things to create your own broadcast station.

1) A recording/player device like a VCR or DVD player.

2) A tv signal amplifier or pre-amp.

3) A tv antenna.

If you already know how to hook all three units up for tv reception, you will simply reverse it.

Here's how to do it.

Take the VCR 'out' cable that goes to the tv and connect that cable into the signal amplifiers 'input' instead

(disconnecting the VCR from your tv will require another antenna be hooked to your tv to receive the signal).

Take the 'output' cable from the amplifier and connect it to the Antenna and you're broadcasting!

It's as easy as that.

The signal won't go out very far, maybe 500 to 1000 feet, but you can amuse yourself and your neighbors for hours!

and you wouldn't have to upgrade your broadcast signal to digital because you'd be considered a "low power" station.

I wonder how much it would take to amplify the signal to reach a mile or two.

Reminds me of the Saturday Night Live Skit Wayne's World. Plublic access television.

You could even do a live broadcast and replace the Recorder/Player with a Video camera, right?

How strong will the amplifier have to be. Will a 20db one do for 100ft ish...or will it need to be stronger?

It's been years since I did it but a 20 db amp should do for that distance. I used amps of similar power and had good results so you should too. BTW, the antenna was around 25 to 30 feet high and in an attic. If you have an outside antenna, that should do even better.
