a Nursing home would not fall under the Federal Law's definition of a 'Household', it would be a 'Group Living Facility' and would deny the application. Hospitals, schools, and other similar places would fall under the same limit.

I got denied for the same thing for living in a mobile home, which escapes me.

That doesn't seem right.

I think some of the restrictions should be reconsidered, but I guess I won't hold my breath.

The coupon program should've been more thoroughly figured out ahead instead of the last year before the transition.

The USPS mistakenly identifies 7301 Hobbs Road Lot #AA-2 Owensboro, KY 42301 as a business address, regardless of the 'lot #' being inserted. i live at what is called Diamond Lake Resort, but it's just a trailer court. i had the same issue trying to change my address when i moved here. unfortunately debating with the USPS about that plus this new issue is just as pointless. the coupon program is automated but at least i tried

By Federal Law, i do live in a household. so long as it's not a PO box or one address with multiple mailboxes i should be able to get a coupon. i do get my mail at my own lot # but still.

But then the Government never did care about lower-middle class, why start now?

i wouldn't hold my breath, i mean how successful is taking a few overzealous web-bots to Court? with the Coupon Program, the engine's running, but no one's behind the wheel....

Besides, a lawsuit would be more expensive than the converter box.

Lightbulb Fee Boxes for Non-Profit Organizations!

An issue for consumers with regard to the digital transition is the expense. While the U.S. government is offering two $40 coupons per household to subsidize the purchase of the devices, the average retail price of a digital converter box is over $50 and the least expensive new model sells for about $46 so the consumer still has some cost to bear.
Nursing homes, assisted living facilities and similar institutions can obtain free digital TV converter boxes for residents by obtaining a government discount coupon and ordering through SolidSignal.com. The company will also provide free shipping and free support by telephone as part of their community relations program. SolidSignal.com is offering this program to non-profit organizations nationwide through June 12, 2009, the digital broadcast transition date, while inventory is available.
The online application for the government coupon can be filled out at http://www.dtv2009.gov/. Once the coupons are received, the facility director can call SolidSignal.com toll free at 1-866-374-4625 to place the order to receive the converter boxes that will receive digital TV signals after the transition.

Sounds just silly to me, why wouldn't they allow it for schools and other massively beneficial social facilities? It's as if cable is only for luxury purposes only and not educational at all...

Cable not educational? what about 'Cable in the Classroom?'

Oh well all our schools, elementary, middle, and high combined, all used VCRs or closed-circuit type TV. the closed-circuit TV would be our homeroom automated viewing of 'Channel 1 News'. it would automatically turn on all the TVs and show it and then turn off the TVs. kinda like that movie, 1984. mandatory viewing and all. we always prayed they'd blooper and show two or three shows by mistake and delay class lol!

Same thing at the end of the week in High School. we'd have a student-hosted news showing what's hot, what's not and other crap from the A/V dept.
