Default Why does the government need to know the following information?

When you apply for a coupon, why do they ask you if you subscribe to "one or more pay services such as cable or satellite"?

Hi Battlecat,
That's a good question. I'm pretty sure that question is for informational/statistical purposes only for the government.

I haven't seen or heard any responses from anyone saying they were denied because they answered "yes" to subscribing to cable or satellite services....

Some of the information that I found out recently is that if you subscribe to any of the following services they feel there is not a need for you to have the converter box so having subscribed to a paid service you are no longer qualified for the coupon offer.
