Coupon didn't get applied by Dish Network
I just bought a DTVPal Plus from the Dish Network website. I filled everything out correctly, including my $40 coupon info. I press submit, and then it says they had technical difficulties and to call their customer service number. Before I do that, I check my debit card history and there is a Dish Network charge of $68.94 (59.99 price + 8.95 shipping). Strangely enough, they didn't apply the tax that I was charged. So basically, my coupon did not get applied to the balance. I call them up and explain the situation and they apologized and told me to call back in 2-3 days (Monday basically). I don't remember the exact reason he said but he said something about needing their system to update with my purchase I believe. I didn't even give him any personal information so I don't know how he would know that my order specifically wasn't in the system yet.
Has anyone else had this problem with ordering from Dish Network? If I see that I get credited for the coupon then I probably won't call back, but if nothing is resolved by Monday, I will give them another call. Thanks for listening, just wanted to vent a little.

ae87, Welcome to the DTVUSA Forum. I have never experienced an online purchase using a $40.00 coupon, but I have dealt with Dish Network and I find them to be a trustworthy company. I would presume the fact that he didn't ask for your personal information when you told him of your concern, tells me there system probably does this to everyone. I believe your instincts to wait patiently until Monday are correct. If you call back on Monday and there is still a problem then I would elevate your concerns to a manager. Please post back with your resolution. This may be a question or concern many others have had and your experience will help them. Please post and enjoy the following area in the DTVUSA Forum.

was the coupon expiring in a short time? Is the coupon still good now? If so, can you ask them to refund you the coupon difference if they can get that coupon processed? Did they process it correctly?
Remember, these are $40 EFT (electronic funds transfer) coupons, not $40 Visa gift cards. Businesses that process them as Visa gift cards would temporarily lose their ability to process the coupons.
You probably weren't applied the tax, as the processor was in a different state.

No, I got the coupon recently and it expires on 09/23/2009. If the situation isn't resolved automatically, I will be asking them to refund me the coupon difference.
I have no idea how they processed it. Seeing as how they are Dish Network, I would expect that they would know how to properly apply the coupons to their orders.
Well, why would they charge tax on the statement on the website but not charge it on my balance?
I will keep you guys updated on the situation.

I called them up again today and it seems that the payment was declined on their end for whatever reason. My bank has yet to update my checking account to reimburse my funds so I sent them (my bank) an e-mail asking about the issue. Visa also charged me a $1 fee for some reason too. Anyway, it looks like I'll be purchasing the box on solidsignal.com instead.

$1.00? Wonder why. Be sure to watch your account for the next few days until those charges are refunded. That's kind of rotten that your coupon didn't get applied. You agreed to have your debit card charged a certain amount, and they overbilled. What happens if you didn't have enough cash in your account to cover the difference? You would have then been charged an overdraft fee, which would have been a pain in the rear to get Dish Network to pay back.
