Default Can I record HDTV from my TV's ATSC tuner to my VCR?

Question: I have a TV w/ a hdtv tuner but I want to record from it onto my VCR. Is it possible? I know for fact that the VCR has an old analog tuner, so my problem is that I'll need to record from the TV's tuner.

OhWintheSaints, Welcome to the DTVUSA Forum. You can't record from HDTV to VCR. You would ned to connect a CECB to the VCR. I recommend the Dish Network DTVPal Plus for your situation. It has a pretty nice onscreen TV Guide and a VCR timer built in.

Unless your TV has video/audio output jacks, you can't record from its tuner.

Either get a DTV converter box like 1nxs suggested, or buy a new DVD/VCR with a built in digital tuner.

If you decide to subscribe to cable, the (coupon-type) converter boxes will not work with it. They are for use with OverTheAir antenna reception only.
