What is the latest you can apply for the converter box coupons? When is the cutoff date and when do you have to have them used?

Does there seem to be a feeling that there will be shortage of coupons. I thought that this was something that because of the fact we have no choice there would automaticly be enough coupons for everyone??

The government states the following about Converter Box Coupon funding:

Quote:
Consumers can apply for coupons until March 31, 2009, or until the funds are exhausted.
From: https://www.dtv2009.gov/FAQ.aspx (Under the section: Coupon Program: Getting a Coupon question #7).

A recent article on Broadcasting and Cable mentions that the coupon program may run out of funds 17 days short of the DTV transition date, and seven weeks sooner than the planned end date of the coupon program on3/31/08.

It sounds bad, but Broadcasting and Cable failed to mention that Congress has actually set a few contigencies just in case of heavier than expected demand for coupons. Of the $990 million available for DTV coupon funding, there's an additonal $510 million in funds set aside to use if necessary. (Reference: http://peerta.acf.hhs.gov/uploadedFi...V%20Inform.pdf)
