Thumbs down Pioneer to quit selling TVs

I can't believe it, Pioneer has decided to end production on all of it's TV lines. I had a Pioneer Elite projection TV for many years which was built very well. Their Kuro line has been regarded from press and reviewers as some of the best manufactured TVs in the business.

Quote:
Pioneer will no longer manufacture televisions and plans to spin off its DVD player business into a joint venture with Sharp, according to a report in Japan's Nikkei newspaper.
The company is reportedly exiting the TV business rather than continue to incur losses in that division. This latest report comes a few months after Pioneer announced it anticipated huge losses at the end of its fiscal year in March and plans to lay off 2,000 workers.

Definitely a surprise to me. I bet everyone who purchased a Kuro at full price over the past year is pretty ticked off.

I was not aware of that. I had a Pioneer television for a long time, but that was so many years ago. It doesn't work any more but it was pretty nice.
