you can pick up a decent sized LCD (22"-26") for around $300 now. Vizio has some decent ones

LCD's are so cheap now if you're looking for one sized 15" - 40" compared to last year. Great time to buy.

What I have come to believe is that both Plasma and LCD have constantly been eliminating their cons and even their price differences making the current market entries of either a Plasma or an LCD just about equal (I think). However, if I was to choose one, I would go for an LCD HDTV.
