Default Can I use my ATSC converter box with cable?

My cable company says that if I have a digital tv I can get the basic OTA channels without the converter box. Well what if you don't have any digital tvs? Can I use a converter box for OTA broadcasts (the one they had the coupons for)? Those have the same digital tuner...right?

No, digital cable tuners are QAM tuners while the CECB boxes have ATSC tuners. Cable tuners use different modulation and different fequencies. So, you either have to use a DTA box from the cable company, find a stand alone QAM tuner (I don't know of one), or get a digital TV.

When I Googled "QAM tuner box" this is what I came up with: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Ltd-_-15260027
