Does DirecTV offer METV?
Does DirecTV have the METV channel? I'm thinking about singing a 2-year contract with them and want to make sure they have it.
In most areas DirecTV, will not offer METV. In most markets METV is a sub-channel, and DirecTV does not carry sub-channels. However there are exceptions to the the rule. In the Buffalo NY market, WBBZ carries METV on their main channel, and because WBBZ is a full power station, they are carried on DirecTV. If you go to
and put in you zip and pick a service provider, like broadcast channels, that should show you your local channels and their affiliations, if METV is on the main channel then go to
DIRECTV - #1 Satellite TV - Beats Cable TV w/ More HD & Sports
and see if that channel is part of their package offer to you. If METV is a sub-channel in your area, it won't be available on DirecTV.
I don't think it is offered on most systems, but there may be exceptions if a Class A station uses it as their main broadcast affiliation signal. DirecTv wouldn't even carry the mandatory "Must Carry" channels they are required to have if it was not mandated by the FCC. It is not in their profit portfolio to carry channels that really don't produce much or any revenue for them, which the local channels don't provide.
Sorry Chips, I did not see your reply. Your answer is much more detailed than mine.
If it is available off air in your area, why not put up an antenna to receive it for free? Why pay for something you can get for free? I have DirecTV too, but do not pay for the locals because I get more locals than they offer using an antenna.
The question could be answered much easier if the OP shared their zip code. As stated previously, MeTV is usually on a sub-channel but not everywhere. In the NYC area, MeTV is on channel 43 but it's not full time. There is also the option of purchasing the OTA tuner module along with an OTA antenna. Again don't drop everything and do this until you check your zip code with TVFool.com or check back here.
It does for the Savannah area...look up me tv and it will give you a viewing map, you pick your local and they give you the channel that coincides with your provider.
I'm in Eastern PA close to Allentown. MeTV is advertised on billboards on the highway! I get it on Fios. I am not sure but it seems to be affiliated with with DTV station that is a major local station.

Get an OTA antenna if you want any of the sub-channels (.2, .3, .4, etc.) with any satellite service. You have a much better chance to get these sub-channels with cable. Possibly Antenna TV, ThisTV and there are more out there.
It would be nice to know where the OP is from, that we could determine if MeTV is on the main channel or not. I thought a while back when I posted on the subchannel thread, that MeTV was being removed from DirecTV & Dish Network in the Milwaukee Wisconsin market, because Weigel Broadcasting moved WMLW's programming to the full power signal & made it 720p HD, while moving MeTV to the Class A station that used to be WMLW, & also put MeTV as a subchannel to WDJT 58.3. Since the WMLW & WBME call letters were swapped around, both stations are carried on satellite in that market. It's just that WMLW went from a Class A & subchannel to WDJT 58.3 to a full market signal & HD, while MeTV (WBME) went from being on a full market signal to a Class A & subchannel to WDJT 58.3. MeTV Milwaukee on WDJT 58.3 might move to 58.2 once Tribune fully takes over WITI, & moves This TV over to that station (most likely 6.3).
I get all those WFMZs plus Antenna on Fios. I think there is a channel called Cozi. That has retro also.

Where is ME TV
We did have Me TV but no longer in East Texas love that channel so disappointed in direct tv removing this channel 1 dissatisfied customer her have has Direct tv for many years why would they do this?
I have directv and watched metv on channel 23 in chicago. picture was fine untill a week ago when i turned it on and one side of screen is distorted and wavy. can still watch it but its annoying after awhile. can anyone figure this out for us.grandchildren love svengoolie. All my other channels are perfect.
DirecTV carried metv for like 2 weeks and then dropped it. That really sucks because there are great programs on it and we don't like having to switch to regular antenna to watch one channel without use of the dvr
