Default How can I tell if my TV has a QAM tuner?

Is there a way to tell if my HDTV has a QAM tuner cuz I don't have the instructions anymore?

I've had little problem finding PDFs of most user manuals (for everything from televisions to old bread makers) online, so if you can find the model number on the back you should be in good shape.

Beyond that, I would just plug it into the cable and do a channel scan and see if it comes up with any digital cable channels.

Another goofy question. I've done the channel scan and my TV first searched the analog channels and then the digital channels but it didn't specifically say it was looking for QAM channels. I've gone through channel 1-50 so far which took a while to do but I haven't seen where any QAM channels yet. Is there a way I can find out which channels are QAM for Los Angeles, CA?

    Essentially, no.

QAM channel assignments vary from cable head-end to cable head-end, and are never published by the service provider. They can and do change without notice, the equipment designed to use them for cable, i.e., cable converter boxes and CableCARD (as mandated by law), provided electronic updates of the mapping when such changes occur.
