which channels "clear QAM" in New York?
Hello,
I´m thinking about using one of the Hauppauge HVR (or PVR) cards to record TV on a PC, is there a list or can anyone here tell me which channels are broadcast in "clear QAM", i.e. not encrypted in Brooklyn, New York?
If I get a digital cable subscription (with TimeWarner, maybe Cablevision), will I also be able to receive analog cable channels (if there are any left)? As the HVR-cards can record analog cable, clear QAM and ATSC without a receiver as far as I know.
Regards,
Thomas

I am using TWC in murray hill. Clear QAM channels I get:
1.2 CBS HD
1.4 NBC HD
1.7 ABC HD
1.13 PBS HD (WNET)
1.14 PBS kids
1.15 PBS world (spanish?)
1.28 NBC2 (sports)
1.29 NBC4 (weather)
1.30 ABC2
93.0 my9 (UPN)
93.1 TNT HD
I get those channels, with My9 and TNT HD slightly off, plus these:
53.2 NY1 HD
93.1 My9 HD (UPN)
93.2 TNT HD
103.2 Fox HD
103.3 CW HD
122.363(??) Spike SD

Looked on Time Warner Cable's webpage but I don't think they publish their QAM channel list. Come to think of it, I don't think any of the cable providers do, though I have been wrong before.

As far as Cablevision goes, they are leaning more and more towards everything on demand. That saves bandwidth for them but requires a box.
