The 2014 NIT TV schedule will commence on Tuesday March 18th, 2014. The National Invitational Tournament is operated by the NCAA and was first played in 1938. The final rounds of the NIT are played at MSG (Madison Square Garden) in New York City. The regions in the NIT are broken up by the #1 seed in each region. The top seeds for the 2014 NIT Tournament are SMU, St. John’s, Minnesota, and Florida State (these teams also happen to be some of the top snubs for the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament).
2014 NIT TV Schedule
The 2014 NIT tournament will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks and generally compliments the broadcasting for the NCAA Tournament. For the opening rounds of play, the games will be shown on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and ESPNU. The semifinals of the tournament will be shown on ESPN2 on Tuesday, April 1st, 2014. The 2014 NIT Championship game will be held on Thursday, April 3rd, 2014 and shown on ESPN. Prior to the teams traveling to New York for the quarterfinal match-ups, the first and second rounds of the NIT will be held in the home arena of the higher seed unless logistics preclude the match-up from being played at the given facility.
