Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" starts shipping on Sept 14th

The second generation of Amazon's touchscreen Kindle Fire tablet was announced last week, and now Amazon is ready to start shipping the 7 inch version this Friday, September 14.

View attachment 1951 As expected, the new Kindle Fire 7" HD looks a lot better, with more rounded corners and a less rectangular, smoother design line, but it also is much more powerful than its predecessor. The 7 incher comes with TI OMAP 4460 processor that we have also seen on the BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE, and sports a new display with a 1200 x 800 HD resolution. Additional new features remove glare and sharpen the image, and Amazon has also added a cutting age polarizing filter that supports more color depth.

Looks like the 8.9 inch model is expected to be released on November 20, 2012, but both versions of the Kindle Fire HD has been available for pre-order since September 6.

Amazon's Kindle Fire HD couldn't have come at a better time, since it looks like Apple might be launching a similar product (Apple iPad Mini) for this holiday season too.
