The current season of 'Dancing with the Stars' ended Tuesday evening with the handing out of the famous Mirror Ball trophy to the professional and celebrity couple who both wooed the judges for scores and the viewers for votes. Cutting right to the chase, the new champs are top pro Derek Hough and Glee's Amber Riley.

Perhaps more than any previous round of competition, the current crop of celeb dancers had more heart as a whole. It was a friendly few months with everyone doing amazingly well and so many tender reasons to support a variety of the showbiz performers.

At the top of that list was Valerie Harper of 'Rhoda' fame. In short form, she has brain cancer that should have already seen her in her grave and yet she is still going strong and danced in the finale show. Stated a happy Harper, "I was supposed to be dead in March and here it is Thanksgiving." She wanted to say thank you for all the support and, with Colbie Caillat singing It's a Wonderful World, danced a beautiful waltz with her partner, Tristan MacManus. The audience stood throughout the entire song in appreciation.

Jack Osbourne finished third in the competition and won the hearts of all by being such a strong entry while battling his own issues. He has Multiple Sclerosis.

Bill Engvall proved a celebrity does not have to be the best dancer to reach the final four. He managed to get consistent scores and a slew of voter support that put him and new pro Emma Slater into the top four. America loved his spirit and tenacity.

With partner Tony Dovolani, Leah Remini fought her way far into the show's latest season even as she dealt with the continual fallout from messy split from the Church of Scientology.

Even Riley's victory is one for the heart. Gleefully, the plus-size singer and actress expressed at the end of the telecast, "I want to let women of all sizes out there know you can do whatever you put your mind to."

The next round of dancing competition begins in March.
