It's amazing to me this day and age (with the internet and eBay) that people are still able to go to garage sales and pay $10 for an old painting or statue, turn around, and get it appraised on this show for thousands of dollars.
I like that UK show better... where they actually have to auction it off, so we can see how much it is really worth. Someone saying that something is worth $10,000 is just words to me -- someone paying $10,000 is really something else.
I watch Antiques Roadshow from time to time, and I have always found it fascinating that things which may not look like anything special end up being just that. Could you imagine owning something that is worth far more than you ever would have guessed?
