I'm trying to figure out if Skullcandy Jibs are going to get me the best sound for the dollar or if there is anything better in that price range that I should consider? Just want to make sure I get something good without breaking the bank.

I have a pair of Skullcandy iPhone FMJ's which are pretty nice. I pad about $50 for them 3-4 years ago but there are some newer and better options from Skullcandy if that's your brand of choice. The 50/50 earbuds are supposed to be pretty good. One of my friend's has the 50/50 and loves it but I've never actually listened to any music with them. Are you looking for wired or wireless?

Check out Skullcandy reviews on CNET, tons of reviews at CNET.

Skullcandy is decent, check out the Koss earphones. Especially the i150 In-Ear and KDX100, which is absolutely worth the price!

I am an audio engineer. I mostly work with live sound but I am also plugged into the recording end of the business. There is quite a controversy over mixing music properly and mixing music for people who listen with ear buds. Nearly all ear buds sound very poor compared to what the recording is supposed to sound like. In many cases people are listening to music with broken ear buds that are not producing accurate sound. I read an article where the recording engineer suggested albums be mastered by listening to cheap or broken ear buds since that is what a lot of people listen with. I use Shure SE535-V in ear monitors when I must use in ear listening. They cost about $450. They have a tweeter, mid-range and a woofer in each monitor. These are typical of what you see artists wearing while performing. If you don't want to spent that much...make sure the buds come with a variety of ear pieces. The right fit is a must for ear buds. There is no one size fits all with ear buds. Take a look at Shure on Amazon. These are legit listening devices.
