I'm planning on making sure that everything I buy from now on is made here in American by American businesses. I'm sick and tired of seeing foreign made products on our shelves when the people around me don't have jobs.

So my question is this, what is the best American made electronics company and where can I get there products from?

Come on people, no one got any suggestions for me? Does anyone even care if what you buy supports your nations economy? Evidently not. People even kill each other to get in Walmart not for Christmas sales

haha, sorry but the Japanese Television sets are far superior than U.S. in the TV manufaturing market. I think Olevia is an American company but they get their componenents to manufacture the TV from Japan.

Mitsubishi, Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, all Japanese and Korean companies.

I prefer American-made and it's the first thing on my mind when I go out to purchase. My Magavox TVs have never failed except to be replaced by a newer model

There are none

I know of no American made TV or electonics for the home consumer market. You will find several high end audio suppliers. Maybe Macintosh is still making stuff?

good luck

The funny thing is, even Sony TVs aren't manufactured from scratch with only Sony parts. There are really only like 4 or 5 main TV manufactures, the rest of the brand names just purchase from those manufactures and rebadge the TVs. Kind of like what Isuzu does on some of their trucks, they buy the rights to use a Chevrolet truck drive train and chassis, and put their Isuzu badge on the vehicle. Not saying it's wrong, it's probably smart business.

I can understand how you feel about supporting the local economy by making sure that you would be buying locally manufactured products. Just look for a company that doesn't take advantage of cheap foreign labor but employ Americans. Good luck in your search Taki.

I think you can go for Olevia. If your restriction doesn't suit to sets that are manufactured here in USA then you can buy Sony since majority of its products are manufactured here although by a Japanese company.

In my opinion the problem is that many of the great manufacturers here in the US are earning their money not with the good the produce.
They earn their money by investing in such kind of papers like Lehmann.

So I really do not believe that you will get one new job here if you buy only American goods. And as others already have written- most part com from Japanese or Chinese producers, they only label it here.

Hey Scotty don't give up. I am also on the same quest. the funny thing is American made products are still much higher quality than the competition from Asia. So when considering purchasing audio and or video electronics the cost might be higher just because they are built better. Check out McIntosh, Theil, Martin Logan, Triad to name a few.

I have just set up a page on facebook called Commit to America - American Made - American Pride. I will be posting information on this exact subject. Hope you stop and take a look. Like wheat you see give us the like and share what you learn it might be the only way to support american manufacturing. Who knows maybe someone will begin building TVs in the States one day. Good Luck

This is so incredibly sad. We're sinking, or are we already sunk?
I think we're pretty much sunk. But I still have hopes for submariner activity, albeit the waters are foriegn.

Vizio is about the closest thing to an american manufacturer we have. They're offices are in the US, as well as the designers. Vizio is still manufactured in China, but is an American company. Sad, we gave all that tech and process away years ago.

American Made Audio

Hey Guys,

There's a whole world of hundreds of quality American audio electronics out there. I created a page on my music blog dedicated to this: American Made Audio List | Windhaming

Just open Stereophile or The Absolute Sound magazines, or attend the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest and you'll see many many US-made systems.

As for me, my system is as follows
Preamp: Aesthetix Calypso, made in California
Amp: Audio Research Corporation, made in Minnesota
Speakers: Acoustic Zen Adagio's, made in San Diego, California
Cables: Acoustic Zen Satori, made in San Diego (though the raw wire comes from Japan)
Turntable: VPI Scout, made in New Jersey
Phono Preamp: BAT VK-P5, made in Delaware.

This is just a sample. Magnepan speakers are made in Minnesota, Boulder Electronics are made in Colorado, etc.

US made electronics tend to be hand-made, and therefore more expensive, but also much higher quality and resale value

VIZIO, Inc. was founded in 2002 by William Wang with the idea that everyone deserves to own the latest technology. Mr. Wang's first two employees, Laynie Newsome and Ken Lowe, were honored as co-founders and eight years later are still hard at work taking entertainment freedom by storm! By providing a myriad of high definition entertainment options and unmatchable value, VIZIO has grown to over 160 employees and remains the first American brand in over a decade to lead in U.S. LCD HDTV sales.
