Billing - DirecTV

I have auto pay. My service was cancelled for non payment. My bank doesn't have any returns on my account or my card. The billing lady is like a hit man on turning my t.v back on. I set up a payment for the fifteenth of November which is not that far away, almost two weeks. Then I told her I'd pay the next amount on the fifteenth of December. I really feel this is a glitch in the system and nothing on my part to get my service cancelled. Why must I feel like a criminal?
