A dated but educational video comparing Bose to other equipment.

Amazingly, there are many people walking around that cannot 'hear' or are willing to ignore 5% audio distortion. That level of distortion would make my skin crawl.

When he was alive, Bose engineered superior (small) audio systems. I am not familiar with the current Bose Corporation products but if they are as good as his legacy, they are great. The actual question: do others equal the performance at an equal or less cost?

Wow. I don't know if I should be jealous of those who care about the quality of sound or be happy that I'm not one of them. For me, I just need to be able to hear the music or whatever... Preferably without any weird noises. And on both ears (in case of headphones). That's enough for me. I kind of feel as if I was lacking some kind of superpower everyone else has or as if I didn't have one sense. But maybe it's better to be an ignorant, I don't need to spend piles of money for my music equipment and I'm still happy. :)

I understand what you are saying. That is the boat a lot of younger generations are in. They have only heard music through inexpensive ear buds or low budget car stereos. I don't mean this in a disrespectful way but such a listener probably has no idea how different the music sounds through a high-quality sound system. OR...the majority of people have never heard live bands in a good environment. There is a "segment" of music that is felt more than heard. It is impossible to experience that through ear buds-even with a $500 set of professional in-ear monitors.

It is just a such a HUGE difference.
