BOSTON -- Boston broadcast television stations and cable providers are giving viewers the opportunity to see if their sets are ready for the federally mandated shutdown of analog television and the transition to digital television (DTV).
...All local Boston television stations are participating in a “Virtual Shutdown” readiness test. The tests are occurring simultaneously across all channels at 5:15 a.m., 6:15 a.m., and 5:15 p.m on Tuesday.
The tests last two minutes each and alert television audiences as to whether their TV sets are ready for the DTV transition. If a set is not ready, viewers will see a full screen graphic alternating in English and/or Spanish that informs them of any steps they must take, if necessary.
