Q: if I buy and hook up the box now, will it work before Feb,2009?
A: Yes, if you hook up your digital converter box right now, you will receive digital television programming. Television stations have been broadcasting digital channels for a few years now, and are pretty much ready to switch to the digital only broadcasting scheduled on February 17th, 2009. If you need help with installation, check out http://www.dtvtransition.org/downloads/converter_qsg.pdf for step by step installation instructions.
Q: Is it needed now or not?
A: No, you can wait until the night before February 17th, 2009 to install the digital converter and still receive regular television programming. There are benefits of hooking up the converter box now, you can possibly receive a few more channels than regular analog broadcasting.
Good luck, and let us know if you have any other questions...
visit https://www.dtv2009.gov/EmailUs.aspx to send an email to government officials in charge of the converter box coupon program. Good luck, there are quite a few people who have tried to contact them (myself included) and only received an automated response.
I know there have been a lot of people not receiving their coupons and this has got many consumers concerned. I also heard they will only have a certain number of them. Why are they not letting local places do this.
