Can I transfer footage from Sony hdr-xr260 to mac

I want to transfer footage from Sony hdr-xr260 to mac running snow leopard for final cut pro,but it does not seem compatible, and seems complicated to convert can anyone help me? I have Mac quad core duo processor and Premiere Pro,Imovie 09.

you have support for Mac OSX.

From my experience on Sony software for Windows, you have converting option buit in on Sony software.

Sony hdr-xr260 output AVCHD file with .mts clips inside. To make it recognized by FCP or iMovie, you must transcode them into AIC or prores. Here is a guide which you may want to read:

The sony cameras are a pain in the ass with mac editing software. I end up using handbrake to transcode my video first.

I have a Sony HDR-CX550v.
