You can if your Ipad is Ipad 2 or newer. You must follow a specific set of instructions to do so however. Turn on both your Apple TV, and your Ipad, slide your finger along the bottom screen of your Ipad from left to right until you see a volume slider and a round button. Tap the round button and select Apple TV and turn on mirroring, then you should just have to switch to the channel your Apple TV is hooked up on and get a code to input in your Ipad which will begin mirroring.
