Television talk shows are dropping like flies these days. The latest victim is E!'s Love You, Mean It With Whitney Cummings which aired its final episode last week. With Julian McCullough along as the essential sidekick, the show was supposed to be a strong connection between the network's main female audience while also attracting male watchers. It failed.

Previously, Jeff Probst learned had his talker will not survive to film a second year of shows. Last season's Survivor contestant Lisa Whelchel who is best known for her role as Blair on The Facts of Life joined the production in January as a co-host, but the show's low ratings never improved. The Jeff Probst Show will fulfill its obligation for the season airing now with first run shows ending sometime before the summer. Fortunately, the Survivor host is doing well with the reality series currently airing its Caramoan competition.

Before that cancellation was announced, Dancing with the Stars' alum Ricki Lake was informed that her talk show returned has failed. Lake's self-confidence improved after her successful run on the dancing show and she eagerly looked forward to a return to the format that had given her great success once before. The Ricki Lake Show ultimately was performing roughly 30 percent worse than the shows it replaced.

Meanwhile, Katie Couric's show is doing well enough that it will return for a second season.
