Cannot access port forwarding: unable to get into xFi, not available on the normal gateway page - XFinity

Port forwarding is unavailable to me through the normal 10.0.0.1 gateway, so I click the link to go to xFi.



"Huh, that's weird, xFi isn't letting me in, saying that I need to upgrade my equipment... Well, I guess I'll see what happens if I click the upgrade button. Ah, so I don't need to upgrade..."



How does this happen? How am I unable to access an important feature and there's no way to do anything about it? Why isn't it accessible through the gateway?
