Cat5 connections - DirecTV

I want to run a Cat5 cable directly to my HR54-200 as well as one to my TV but there is only one access point available on my rounter. I see that DirectTv has one Cat5 cable coming out of the wall going to the router, as well as a Cat5 and USB cable coming from the Connected Home adapter DCAU1R0-01 going into the router. Are both of these Cat5 connections needed? Why would they need a total of 3 access points on my router? Can one of these be taken out if i'm connecting the HR54 directly to the router? Any help would be greatly appreciated
