CDs vs Vinyl

I heard last week that vinyl is making a comeback, that CD isn't all it's cracked up to be for many, and stores are beginning to sale records again. I don't know that vinyl will ever be the glory day again, but I like this news. I think it's exciting.

LOL I still have a turntable as well; so does my sister. The article I read said manufacturers were beginning to make more turntables now too. There's a little demand there now.

I've got an Optimus LAB-1100 turntable. After throwing out more old, broken (but probably fixable) 'tables than I can remember, this one stays until it dies, or I die, whichever happens first.

About all I actually use the darn thing for nowadays is Christmas music, but all the good Christmas music is on vinyl anyway. ;-)

I see some vinyl occasionally at places like Hot Topic, I doubt it is making a comeback seriously, thats more I think for people that want to collect. One thing I do not miss is that vinyl could be defective brand new, any vibration would cause a skip or a pop. Not so true with CD's although I have noticed my son seems to be able to destroy CD's pretty easily. i also notice there are some players that do not want to play well worn CD's at all. I am more inclined to think that electronic means like thumb nail drives and MP3 players are here to stay

I saw some on sale at Best Buy and almost did a double take. I thought it was even more hilarious that my kids wanted to know what they were :)

I don't even want to think about what little kids think of this stuff. I still remember years ago saying something to a friend, an adult but much younger, about John F. Kennedy, and she was like, 'Who?' I think I took two aspirin and went to sleep. LOL

The difference between CD and vinyl isn't because one is more accurate than the other. Well actually it is, but accuracy isn't a good thing in this case.

The experience of imperfecion that vinyl provides that CD doesn't is what makes vinyl "better."

It's like the difference between sequenced, synthesized music and a live band playing instruments without any help.

Perfect music is boring.
