DirecTV app does not play downloaded content when offline - DirecTV

I have had this problem for awhile and phone support has been less than helpful. I am unable to watch content downloaded from the DVR while offline (e.g. on an airplane). Everytime I try to start a movie I receive a message that says Mobile DVR streaming is currently unavailable. Please try again. I have restarted the app, the device, and reinstalled the app but nothing fixes it. This is on a Kindle device. Has anyone else seen this and/or have a solution to the problem?
