I posted 2 threads today trying to learn what is the best antenna and how to mount it on this site. I received one reply before both posts disappeared...?

This was the reply to the first thread - that someone obviously recognized as a legitimate question and not spam..

Dear JansenAir,

WMC is on low VHF and the RCA ANT751R is designed only for channels above channel 7. The same antenna with low VHF capabilities is the Winegard HD7000R, but I'd recommend getting a larger all channel antenna and mounting it above roofline. Your TVfool shows relatively weak signals, but you are getting reception with the RCA, so that is a good sign. A Antennacraft 5884 (AntennaCraft 5884 Color King VHF UHF FM TV Antenna (5884) from Solid Signal would probably be a minimum, and a Winegard HD8200U (Winegard HD8200U Heavy Duty Platinum VHF/UHF/FM HDTV Antenna (HD-8200U) from Solid Signal) if you want to go all out.

Since, I don't see that you ever posted, despite it being me who responded, it's beyond me, but I'd refrain from double posting if I was you in the future since I know that we have a spam blocker, which is probably why they got rejected. Two or more identical posts is a usual identifier of spam.

Are you saying I shouldn't repost my original questions? There was only 1 reply on the first question about antennas (yours), and none (it was only up a short time before it disappeared) on the second post asking how to mount antenna..

It would be okay to repost, but only once. Any post will show up on the forum home page as new, so there is no reason to post in multiple locations.

:welcome: JansenAir,

I am certain I didn't see (or delete) your original post. Did you post as a guest or was it after you registered? Thanks,

Jim

He was registered, but he posted two identical posts. Both posts disappeared. When he posted this time he posted twice again, and one of the posts, that hadn't been replied to, disappeared. I figure it has to be something to do with the spam settings.

I, like Bill, can't see any deleted posts.

OF COURSE you shouldn't repost a question! This is common protocol on all respectable forums going back to Fidonet. And within ONE DAY!? Wait at least three or four days, then you can "bump" a post once, to get some more attention.

Never repost anything. :gramps:

Looking into. Sorry about the trouble.

As mentioned, it's best not to post the same exact thread twice. Not only does it cause confusion for tracking purposes, but it also messes with search results for users searching for help just like you are seeking. Welcome to the forum, btw!

I don't recall posting the same thread twice. In fact, I'm sure I didn't. One post was about an RCA ANT751 antenna and the the 2nd post was asking the best way to mount a large-ish antenna. In any case, I'm going to try again this morning with ONE post only for both questions.
Thanks all!

FYI

Something weird is happening with your posts, that we are trying to figure out. They're showing up twice in the new posts window for no apparent reason.

Thanks,
Dan
